Car in China |

I've got a friend thinking about travelling through China (with another friend) with a car. Living in HK, for reason I think this is a bad idea. They want to do something different, which it certainly will be, but is it really possible? For example, are there restrictions on foreigners buying cars? Are the roads nationwide suitable? Is it safe outside the big cities? Can you get servicing in these areas? I'm ignorant to these questions having only ever trains to SHenzhen and GZ and flown to Shanghai and Beijing. What are your thoughts? |

You needn't argue with your friend since no matter what your opinion; as a foreigner you can't drive in China. |

Foreigners c a n drive in China. But they need a Chinese drivers license. Check www.gd-gd.com, and tell them your personal situation - I am sure they will find a solution. |
