My sister and I are looking to travel to Hong Kong in April.

I was last there in 1988 and loved it. My friend's parents went last year and they weren't too impressed since the changeover.

What do you think of it? Where did you stay and who did you fly with?

I got a quote from my travel agent, staying at Novotel Century Harbourview pp$2468AUD

The hotel we stayed at in 1988 was just off Nathan Road...Ambassador Hotel. I'm sure that is long gone. Anyone know what has replaced it, if there is still a hotel in that area?

I prefer to stay on Kowloon but not sure on accommodation.

Can anyone help?

Adam

Hong Kong hasn't changed that much in character since pre-handover days. There's probably more in terms of nightlife options now, newer buildings, by 2006 Disneyland should theoretically be open. On the downside, air quality has deteriorated and the place is more crowded than before. The Novotel is a nice hotel, but a bit out of the way between Wanchai and Causeway Bay. There are many hotels in the Nathan Road area - the Holiday Inn Golden Mile, the Sheraton, Kowloon Hotel, Miramar, Langham Hotel, Peninsula, YMCA, etc.
