Hello all

What are the best options to get from the airports in Xian and Chengdu to the town ? If taxi, could you tell me how much they would cost so I can make sure I am not getting ripped..

I've taken the bus and have taken taxis from the Xian airport into town and thought the bus took way too long and didn't drop me anywhere near my hotel. When I travel I'd rather pay a few extra bucks to have the convenience and luxury of riding in a car by myself directly to my destination and have someone else carry my bags. Traveling to me is all about relaxation and not having to stress out about finding the right bus and carting my bags 8 blocks to the hotel. That said, I really don't remember what I paid for the taxi in Xian but it was definately less that ¥100 and well worth the cost. The basic rule when traveling by taxi in China is to immediately upon entering the taxi, make sure the driver turns on the meter. NEVER accept a ride from someone offering their services in the airport terminal but ALWAYS go outside and stand in the taxi line with everyone else. Also always ask for a receipt (Fa Piao) because that will have to be printed by the meter and will have the Taxi's number on it for possible future reference.
