Kathmandu - Peking overland travel in China |
|
|
Hallo Travellers,
I need some advise, whether it is possible to do a overland tour from Kathmandu via friendship highway into Tibet and then furtheron to Bejing. I heard that the border is closed. Is it still possible to do it on myself or do I have to join an organized tour?
Is it better to fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa. How much would that cost?
What about the weather there in August?
Thanks a lot for your help |

Depends on when your going. Right now theres no flights to Lhasa from Katmandu, they open up again I think in the beginning of April (weather). The border is open. You cannot go on your own but need to be in a group. You will then travel on a group visa and should enter and leave with the group. It is though apparently getting a bit easiet in Lhasa to get a split of the group visa so you can get a normal tourist visa and then travel onwards on your own. If the PSB won't do it try talking to a travel agency. Sometimes they can do the trick if you buy a flight out of Tibet to Chengdu from them.
I dont know the prices from KTM. |
