Train from Xian to Beijing ?? Z trains or T Trains |
|
|
I took the Z20 and it cost 417RMB-- it's all soft sleeper and it's a fast train. It's rather cush, and everyone on the train is wealthy, so there are no concerns about stolen luggage, etc. The Z's run from Beijing West, which is about a 6 block walk from the Military Museum subway stop.
The T trains are normal trains that have soft and hard sleepers as well as soft and hard seats. A hard sleeper on a T train runs about 225RMB but will take you about an hour longer to get to Beijing. These usually run to the main train station, which is slightly east of center city and has its own subway stop. |

Z Train |

The Z trains started operations in mid 2004. The trains are newer and configured mostly with sleepers. The Z trains travel faster (up to 160km per hour) than the older trains and are non-stop. So the travel time is much shorter. The accomodations are better - air conditioned, LCD screens playing movies, headphones, individual lighting control, AC outlet, etc. in the soft sleepers on some trains. The price is higher.
Which Beijing stations (West ot Main) depends on where the train is to and from. To and from Xian is at the West Station. Travel time is only 11 hours 30 min. |
