Currency/Budget in China |
|
|
Hi,
I will roughly spending 14 days travelling from Beijing to Hanoi (Vietnam) through China. All of my transport costs are already covered but could anyone tell me how much I would roughly need each day for eating and accommodation in China.
Additionaly, am I best to stick with the local currency or will I be able to survive on US$ and my VISA? |

China is pretty much still a cash society except for the big hotels /restaurants in the major cities where cards are accepted. Its usually better to just change your $ into rmb.
The good thing about China is that even in the hotels you dont get ripped of with the currency exchange. You should get around 8.2 rmb for your $.You can also change currency at the major airports and rail stations
Also its easy enough to change any leftover currency back before you leave the country. Food is cheap, and if desperate so is KFC and Mc Donalds.
Cant really help with the accomodation prices as i usually stay in Chinese 4 star hotels (my company pays) costing around 500 rmb inc B/F and local taxes. You can usually get the better rates at the chinese hotels rather than the "names" Raddison,Marriot etc but there are plenty of hostels in major cities for much cheaper rates
Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip. |
