Travel boom around the corner |

THE number of travelers will reach a new peak during the imminent May Day holiday, China’s central office coordinating holiday events predicted today.
The office said that the numbers may climb to a new record level from the 110 million travelers last year. More people intend to travel by themselves, which is likely to cause more accidents because the visitors are unfamiliar with their environment. The office will also be monitoring islands in the Pacific Ocean, the Middle East and in South Asia as they are hot tourist destinations this year.
The railway authority will add 58 special tourist trains and 46 temporary trains to meet the demand during the holiday. Airlines will provide more flights to carry the steady flow of passengers, as they expect a growth of 20 percent from last year. The tourism authorities will be providing more scenic travel lines, especially for rural travels and travels from abroad.
Related departments are also attaching emphasis to transportation safety especially on trains, airplanes and ships. The National Tourism Bureau said that attention should also be paid, regarding emergency responses, to overseas tourists and private car owners. |
