China trip |

The family and I are taking an 18 day vacation in China next spring. My
wife and daughter plan to take a hairdryer and I plan to take an electric
shaver. All run on either 110 or 220 volt current. What kind of plugs are
common in China? We have several adapted for Europe, but are not sure of
China. Thanks for the assistance. |

Usually at least some of the ones in hotels will accept European
two-pin plugs and/or US/Canada style dual blade (no ground) plugs. I
never had a problem with just those two available recharging batteries
or my cell phone. You might end up having to plug it in in the
bathroom rather than the bedroom, for example.
The voltage and frequency is about the same as Europe (220V/50Hz)
everywhere in China. It's probably not worth the bother to bring
120V-only stuff to China.
Outside of hotels, there are actually two or three common plugs used
in China, so if you want to be really sure, pick up an adapter kit and
bring all the plugs. They can be a hassle to find in China, and while
it's easy to find adapters in HK, they may not be the right ones. |
