Honeymoon travel to China at low budget? Good Idea or not? |
|
|
I have the opportunity to go to China (Shanghi) in May for my honeymoon. The only thing I am concerned about would be understanding enough to be able to get around. The language barrier and being able to do some cool rural tours out of Shanghi.
I have considered a boat tour up the river but don't know anything about them or the costs.
We are not looking to spend a fortune since we mainly travel in Hostles and low budget everywhere else. |

Shanghai is a great place - I was there this summer - but, for a honeymoon? There are millions and millions of people EVERYWHERE. Sometimes, it is so crowded on the Bund at night that it's difficult to move, and you'll do your "romantic" cruise down the Huang Pu River, at night, on a boat that's so crowded with people that it might sink at any moment.
Relax at somewhere like Sanya on Hainan Island - that's a honeymoon sort of place! Two's company (not millions).Language in Shanghai isn't as much of a problem as it in in other parts of China. You should manage OK with English.
For some nice sidetrips, consider Zhouzhuang (1.5 hour by bus) or Hangzhou (2 hours by train). These are lovely parts of China and very close to Shanghai. |

Hi. My fiance and I were also considering a honeymoon in China. Are there any scenic areas that you could recommend?
Thanks,
Carol |
