Can anyone tell me the name or website for cheap tickets between Shanghai and Bangkok? Someone on this forum suggested using a Chinese agent; he got round trip tickets for $282. That's half of the quotes I've gotten for just one way!

$282 return sounds really cheap, there must have been a quite a good special offer. I remember being quoted around $500 everywhere a few months ago. I think this price is about right.I even tried in Beijing, but it worked out so expensive.In the end I flew from Xian with Bangkok Airways. They have 2 flights a week from there. They have a great offer of you buy three flights with them, its called the discovery airpass. You have to buy a minimum of three coupons in the pass. The xian to Bangkok leg costs $150, domestic legs in Thailand cost $50.
If you book the pass, definitely book outside China, because travel agents in China don't book the pass, I had to wait until I got to Xian where they had an office. But they have representative offices in the US and in Europe
