Basically I practice le Parkour which involves using your
environment to move in, which involves jumping, vaulting etc. I
guess for want of a better description, its kind of like urban
gymnastics.

Basically, I was wondering if practicing such movements in
Beijing would cause upset as I am not too keen on getting
detained for looking out of place and not conforming. I am
going to Beijing for a year and really need to keep practicing.

Any information on whether one thinks this would be possible to
continue practice would be much appreciated. Even any
information on the Beijing police, the people and how they may
react would really help,
Thanks, Alex

I finally realized what le Parkour is:) Actually it had shown up in ancient Chinese fictions and we call it "Qing Gong" in Chinese.
I haven't heard people practising le Parkour as an urban gymnastics in China, but i know it should be kept as one of the movements in Chinese Martial Art.
There is a college of Martial Art in Beijing Sport University, you may try to contact them and see if they have such group which can provide you appropriate places for practising.
