Transport from Pudong Airport to travel in Shanghai |
|
|
quick question for all you travellers,
can you please recommend the best and cheapest way to get from pudong airports to the city (into nanjing east road)? I am travelling with my wife and 1 year old but prefer not to spend the $60US cost the hotels are charging for a airport pickup.
I've being advise upon taking the Maglev train in to the city but I don't know where it stops. Can someone tell me if it stops at a convenient location. is the station close enough to the city so we can then catch a cab towards the bund?
Also, are there hotel shuttle bus services that will take you to all the main hotels (ie Howard Johnson Plaza) from the airport. or are taxi a cheap enough alternative?
your advises will be much appreciated.
Many thanks. |

There is a bus service from the airport to city center, but if you are not familiar with the directions and this is your first visit to Shanghai, you can take a taxi.
The taxi to city center would take less than US$ 20. |

HI! The Maglev is a white elephant, more for novelty than real benefits. It does not enter the city proper. The best bet is via taxi. From the airport into the city, it should cost you about 150RMB-160RMB. (Do take a glance at my VT Shanghai pages and award me points if you think the tips are useful) I don't recall any hotel shuttle bus service, maybe another VTer can shed some light. |

Shanghai RE: Transport form Pudong Airport.Posted: Tue July 12 07:34:12 2005 UTC The cheapest way would be to get a bus from the stops outside the arrivals area. It costs about 20 yuan and they go to various destinations e.g. People's Square. But I really wouldn't recommend this especially as you are travelling with a 1 year old. The Maglev is actually pretty cool. It stops by an underground station or alternatively you can take another taxi from there to your hotel. But it only runs limited hours and stops at 17.00. I don't know about hotel shuttle buses. I would do what no.1 says and go for the taxi. |
