a trek tour to Tiger Leaping Gore in January? |

I am trying to organise a trip to China, to the town of Lijiang, near the city of Kunming. Me and two other students would like to trek the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Anyone done or heard about it before? We are going there the first week of January which apparently is not advised because of the weather. |

I had just heard of it and got a fellow traveller to draw a rough map of the route. Its a good walk over 2 days (although I remember taking three because I took the wrong route and was really hungry in those days and the house in the middle did really good porridge). They were half way through mountain blasting a road through it, never really saw if it was ecologically justifiable as I recall.
On a lighter note I found the walk well worth the while (an understatement for any inspiring landscape) and I have to say I like to think that the gorge has some funny mystical shit going on, because I experienced something I would say was impossible/inexplicable (but not scary I should add), but that's another story. It is a two day thing with a few great places to rest along the way. It is hard work, DO NOT take any heavy bags, leave them in Kunming in a locker or something.
Lijiang too is a place that really really felt good. |
