Budget Accommodation- China |

I am planning my 3rd trip to China entering via Guangzhou then by road/train to
Guilin/Yangshou. Time available is 3 weeks.
Would appreciate some pointers specifically for budget accommodation
in Guangzhou and some recommedations for bus/train routes from Guangzhou to
Guilin/Yangsou. Within the 3 week period what other cities/area should be included.
I have Lonely Planet guidebook - South-West China 2nd Edition
Thank you. |

One of the more interesting places to stay is the hostel on Shamian Island. It's just out the back door of the fancy Whie Swan Hotel. I found info on it recently by looking on the Let's Go China web site. There doesn't seem to be a website unfortunately. Shamian is where all the nice old colonial buildings are and it is quiet and treed. The metro is just across the canal so it is pretty convenient to get around.
There are direct buses that take 9 hours and cost 150 rmb to Yangshuo directly.
I hope you get a double entry visa and get to visit Macau. It's one of my favourite places. Too bad they are building so many more new casinos. |
