Cooking in China |
|
|
Hi everyone,
I've only been in China a couple of weeks, and I'm finding the food quite hard to cope with.
I'm not very good at cooking anyway;
But here there's a whole new set of ingredients to cope with!
Can anyone give me some recipe ideas - something simple I can make for supper at the end of a hard day.
Thanks very much |

Wasn't sure if you wanted to cook Chinese or Western dishes. I rarely cook in China, but there are a few simple things you can make without much effort and skill.
Pasta and Sauce
Just cook pasta according to package directions (usually 6-10 minutes in boiling water)
Warm a jar of tomato, pesto or other sauce
Serve over warm pasta with a bit of parmesian cheese and some bread
Can also make the sauce from scratch if you want
Can add beef, cooked sausage or veggie to the sauce when cooking
Chicken and Veggies
Dice a chciken breast
Cook in pre-heated oil (2 tablespoons) on top of stove
Add some terriayki, garlic, salt, pepper to taste
Add some diced green peppers, onions, broccoli, carrots, really any veggies that you like
Continue cooking until veggies are cooked (don't overcook)
Serve over rice
Hamburger
Take ground beef and season with garlic, onion, pepper, etc
Form into hamburger shape
Place in frying pan with a touch of heated oil
Cook on one side, flip. Check for doneness to your taste
Garnish with tomato, cheese, onion slices, bacon, whatever you wish
Can serve on bread or eat without
Sauted Mushrooms
Wash and slice regular mushrooms
Heat 3 tablespoons of butter in pan
Add mushrooms
Cook over high heat for about two minutes, while stiring
Lower heat and continue cooking for about 3 minutes or until mushrooms are softened. |
