Shanghai has some great hotel chains on the cheap side (though you seem
able to spend more). Motel 168 is good and they have at least 4 or 5
hotels in Shanghai. Their rooms start at 168RMb and up and are very
clean, modern, and even the 168RMB room have internet-connections!! I
think their web address is motel168.com.
Also check out the email subscriptions at xianzai.com for good hotel
deals. I live in Hongkong and travel to Tianjin and Shanghai often and
use that site for special prices.
