In response to your post, yes, it's much cheaper than flying between those 2 cities.
I've personally done that trip about 6 times. Because most Chinese tour packages seem to include Beijing and Xi'an, there are many tourists and foreigners on those trains therefore they're pretty safe and very reliable. If you choose the sleeper trains, you don't even have to worry about your stuff because everyone sleeps anyway and there's a very minimal risk of your things being stolen (especially if you store them in front of you, on the rack, in plain sight).
In conclusion, it's a relatively short and easy trip. It's cheap and efficient. |
