I'm in Shanghai looking to get to Putuoshan hopefully next year January What is the best way to get to Putuoshan? I know there are ferries leaving from the bund somewhere (pier 16?) and where can I buy the actual ticket, and can I buy it in advance? And which hotels are recomended to stay? |

now a 130 yuan entry fee to the island, which covers all of the major sights. (Puji Temple, Fayu, 100 steps beach, 1000 steps beach, Fanyin Cave etc). There is a local bus stop outside Puji Temple for trips to other parts of the island like Fanyin. To get there from Shangha
"Boats to Putuoshan (12hrs) depart from Shiliupu Wharf every day at 6 pm. Tickets cost 87-347 yuan, depending on class. A 5 hour rapid ferry service has buses departing daily from Shiliupu Wharf, & costs 195y, or 225y deluxe. It's roughly a 2 hour busride to the wharf at Luchao, then a 3 hr boat ride." |

Hi Brendan,
So did you go to Putuoshan after all? If you did, could you share your experience with me? I'm looking to visit the island sometime in early March. Thanks a lot!
Cheers,
