travel alone in HONG KONG,what to do around? |
|
|
Hi everyone, I'm traveling 10 days to Hong Kong (5 days), Macau (3 days) and shopping in Shenzhen (1 1/2 days).
Initially I was going with my best friend, but he told me today he was unable to make the trip.
Therefore I would like to know if it is that bad being there all by myself, also if you could recomend me where in HK I can meet nice people to hang around with, or if not, what would you do around there if you were alone.
Thank's a lot. |

You can still have a lot of fun in HK (and Macau) by yourself.
I suggest you only go to Shenzhen for 1 day. Leave early in the morning and come up when you get fed up, which will be the same day. Don't get me wrong - there are 1000's of bargains around there.
To meet nice people to hang around with - usually easiest in bars. The best bars for that are the more relaxed ones in Wan Chai. There is another area with lot's of cool bars called Lan Kwai Fong but this area is a bit more clique and the majority of people there would be less likely to start up a conversation with a stranger.
I suggest that in HK you definetly get out of the city on at least one day. Go on a ferry trip to an outlying island, such as Lamma, which has amazing good value sea-food restaurant and or Lantau to see the Giant Buddha. Also go to Central Plaza (in Wan Chai district), where you can go up in the lift to the 40 something floor and see an amazing view over the city. There are plenty of other things to do - get a free guidebook when you arrive at the airport. |
