Scam at Beijing Airport for travelers' attention |
|
|
Just one thing to watch out for if you are arriving at Beijing airport for the first time:
There is a syndicate of illegal taxi drivers that hang around the exit at international arrivals touting for business. Since there are uniformed personnel in the vacinity, the impression is that they are allowed to operate.
If you are foolish enough to go with them, they will whisk you off to an underground carpark and into an unmarked ramshackle car at which point you are looking for an escape route.
You get delivered to your destination, but are charged about three times the rate of a metered taxi. |

Shuttle buses go to several destinations in Beijing and cost only 16 RMB if my memory serves. Easy to find an honest taxi in city, 16 RMB for bus+20 RMB for taxi takes you safely almost anywhere. So no need to pay any attention to either legal or illegal taxis at the airport. |
