Flighting trans-Pacific jet lag |
|
|
I'm travelling for business to Shanghai in early March. I'll be travelling from Detroit to San Francisco, then the following day flying on to Japan, then Shanghai. I'm hoping you can provide some suggestions for helping fight jet lag for this type of trip. I've flown many trans-Atlantic flights, but these trans-Pacific flights will be quite a bit longer and heading west effects a person differently than does heading east. I know the usual tricks (drink a lot of water, avoid too much caffeine or alcohol, get sunlight, etc.), but was curious whether anyone could provide other suggestions.
Thanks for your help. |

going west is easier as we are going with the clock, albeit some hours later, just like having late nights.
if you want to be sharp for your business deals, then fly first or biz class! then set meetings later in the day preferably after lunch local time which is actually your breakfast, having stayed up late, and just in case you fail to wake up early. after lunch, your host will be less alert and more agreeable whilst you will be fully alert.
more important, you are crossing the international date line, and thus have gained one day, so get your calendar right! don't want your host to wait a full day for you to appear!!! cheers. |
