My wife and I are wanting to take the Trans-Mongolian from Beijing to Moscow with possibly a stop in Ulan Baatar and Irkutsk for a night. Is it much more expensive to stop along the way rather then a straight through ticket? We'll be leaving at the begining of Sept. We heard from many people that the train only leaves on "Wednesdays", then others said it only leaves on "Tuesdays" and now we heard "Mon-Wed and Sat" to Ulan Baatar.

When I went through there a year ago, there was one train a week from Beijing to UB and then six days later to Russia. I think the train from Beijing left early on Wednesday. I spent six days in Mongolia and it was great and then to Irkutsk. |
