questions on travel to Lijang ,China |
|
|
Any comments on Lijang? We wanted to include this city to our itinerary, but it is a little bit out of the way. We wanted to go from Guilin to Leshan-Emei and we were considering if it would be worth it to add Lijang. How many days should we dedicate to it in case we go? Are there interesting things to do? The guides don't seem to explain too much. Any reccomendation on where to stay? We like clean places, we don't need luxury. We will go at the end of June. How is the weather? |

You didn't write how long you have in China, but what many backpackers seem to do, when coming from the south is to first visit Kunming, the go north to Dali and Lijiang, then trek the Tiger Leaping Gorge, then go via Zhongdian to either Chengdu, Emei Shan or Le Shan.
Lijiang is a weird town, it consists of two part, the old one and the new on. It is the old one, which is the interesting one. You live in old houses in traditional Naxi style, which, typically, is a four-winged building in two stories around a small court yart - very cosy...
You can spend a day walking around Lijiang and taking in the atmosphere. You can also rent bikes and go on outings to near by sights, such as Black Dragon Pool or nearby villages...it is definitely worth a look...
I have stayed at "DiYiWan KeZhan" (First Bend Inn") it cost 80RMB per night for a room with a double bed (90RMB for two single beds) and shared bath. It was really nice and the host spoke pretty good English. The only disadvantage was that my travel companion and I always seemed to get lost and have to spend quite some time finding our "home" again...but we got to see a lot of Lijiang...We had fun...
I was there in the middle of July, and the weather was splendid, the sun was shining and it was warm, but you had to wear a jumper in the mornings and evenings...
Have fun... |

I would like to spend approx 12 days in China this coming Nov.
I intend to fly to Kunming, then take a direct flight to Lijang.
I will spend 4 days in Lijang, then 3 days in Zhongdian, travel by bus to Dali and spend one day in Dali and lastly, travel from Dali to Kunming by bus and spend another 3 days in Kunming before i leave for my home.
is this a good planning? Meanwhile, as Nov is peak seaosn, is it necessary for me to arrange for advance booking for my Zhongdian's trip and also Kunming's trip.
Do you think this is necessary? |
