Is it still worthwhile to go down the Yangtze river since the Dam construction? We would like to see the gorges, but we also plan to go along the li river near Guilin. Is it worth while to do both? We will go at the beginning of July. Will that be a problem considering the rain? Any idea about costs?

I took the river cruise in the summer of 2004, at that time 120m of the 176m were in the gorges, and they were still stunning...so I think that it will still be worth it...
I did the cruise in July, and we only had light rain in the mornings every now and then...
So, don't worry, just go ahead...it is wonderful to relax a board a boat, there is nothing you can do, but relax as long as you are sailing..
