I'm looking to attend a good Chinese New Year celebration in Beijing. My girlfriend will be spending time with her family and I'll be looking to do the solo thing (and take lots of pictures).

I'm not talking about a club party or anything like that. I'm talking about traditional celebrations etc..

I'm thinking about going to Chaoyang park as I've heard there are numerous things going on there during the Spring Festival.

Can the Beijing expats weigh in here and let me know where the good celebrations are? I'd appreciate it.

Actually I'd appreciate it if anyone weighed in here. Expat or otherwise.

Your gf's family may be expecting you to hang with the family and may actually be quite offended if you go off on your own.
