travel from Hong Kong (via Shenzhen) to Kunming - advise ? |

I am planning a 3-week trip to China in April. My plane will be landing in Hong Kong at 4 p.m. My aim is to travel to Kunming as soon as possible after arrival. The best option seems to be flying from Shenzhen the following morning but it means that I will have to spend one night in Shenzhen. My questions are the following:
a) is there any reasonable hotel at the Shenzen airport (not exceeding 200 RMB)
b) I am also considering traveling by train from Shenzhen to Kunming immediately after arrival. Is there a night train? How long does it take to travel by train?
c) how long does it take to transfer from Hong Kong airport to Shenzhen airport / Shenzhen rail station?
Any advice will be VERY welcome |

Why are you flying to Shenzen? A bus or train ride only takes 2-3 hours. You might be better of catching a bus to Guangzhou and then a train to Kunming. My wife and I did this trip twice last year and that trian is one of the nicest in China - good scenery too. It is overnight and if I remember correctly it took about 18 hours. I think the entire bus ride to Guangzhou took 4 hours. |
