Where to stay in Shanghai |
I will be traveling to Shanghai in April with a small group of students. (We will need 5 hotel rooms.) Our travel agent has booked the Far East Everbright Hotel. I am not familiar with Shanghai and cannot find anything that shows the location of this hotel in relation to the Bund or another area where there is activity in the evening. I am concerned that this hotel is not in an area in which it will be easy to go out in the evening and walk around. However, we are on a budget . Is anyone familiar with this hotel? Please tell me if it is well-located. If not, can you recommend a different hotel that is in the same general price range? |

Try YMCA, room starts at US$35 for two. Check room out before paying since quality varied, and I think some can sleep 3. Location is excellent, subway and Museum of Art is only a block away. You can even take a long walk to the Bund. Behind YMCA is a street full of eating places where breakfast only cost RMB 4 yuan. So don't book the hotel room with breakfast, you are just paying more.
Another one you can try is Home Inn. It's a three year old chain, that means their hotels are at least remodelled three years ago or more recently. I did not stayed in the one in Shanghai, but I tried the ones in Beijing for US$20. They are always centrally located, basic, small, and cheap. |
