Some tourists told me that the Ming Tombs aren't worth visiting? Is this true because I may leave it out of my journey and have a look around some of Beijing's more interesting streets and monuments.

The Miing Tombs themselves are quite disapointing, but combined with a visit to the Great Wall and the sacred walk make a very good day trip. I have found that most of China's attractions although visibly impressive as buildings they often have very little inside to capture the imagination. This is because most artifacts have been stolen or destroyed over the past 150 years.
