I'm in Shanghai at the moment where a very warm and comfortable double room in a Youth Hostel is only ten pounds a night (160 yuan). . Dorm beds will be even cheaper. It's costing me about 300 yuan to get from Shanghai to Beijing on sleeper bus, the train is similar in hard sleeper. Food can be had very cheap, especially fast food, where you actually have an idea of what you're getting, but you can eat stuff off the street for only a few yuan. Not as cheap as Laos and Thailand, but not unaffordable and really enjoyable to see. I'm sure you would like it! |
