Hi! I'm heading off to china with a friend on the 1st of March and i just wanted to seek some help and advice!we're flying out to Hong Kong where we will stay for 4 or 5 days and get a 90 day single entry visa to china (LP says HK$160??), not sure where the best place to get one is yet but this seems the better option than trying for one in the uk.
From HK we'r planning to travel via train to Shanghai - Beijing - Pingyao - X'ian - Chengdu. the route works quite well as we'r going to use chengdu for entry into tibet, the circa 1900yuan ticket-permit etc. our main interests lie in the cultural heritage and landscape.we plan to take 'about' 4weeks travelling to Chengdu from HK spending 3-4 days in pingyao and chengdu and a week in the others, does this sound like a reasonable timeframe?????
Also mainly, as ive not travelled around china much (been to beijing once) if anyone has any reccomendations as to what they consider must sees along the way(roughly) id love to hear them!
Thank you so much |

i think u can get a 6 month visa to china in HK. Go to Chongqing Maison in Tsim Sa Tsui, the backpackers there will tell u where u can get it. Check out the small islands of Hongkong (take a ferry in Central). Country sides of HK can be beautiful.
To go from Hk to Shanghai, you can take a bus or train at the airport of HK to Shenzhen then transfer the flight ,which is much cheaper than direct flight.
I haven't been to Pinyao, though I know it's a great place. As the tour operator based in Chengdu, I think 3-4 days will be OK to travel and see the heritage things like Leshan grand Buddha, Emei Mount and don't forget the panda base if you are interested in it. |
