I will be doing the Mountain and monastries tour through intrepid in may,
Leavng Beijing travelling through Xian, Xiahe, to Tibet, through langymusi, chengdu, lhasa, samye, gyantse, shigatse, everest national park to Kathmandu.
Just wondering if anyone has done this tour or similar route of travel at this time of year, for some inside info and tips, especially on the weather.
I shall be taking a normal camera , I want to take my digital but wondering if taking it is a good idea with the lack of power in a few of the areas. The batteries last a few days and I have backups as well.
Any tips/info would be great. |

I would include Ganden monastery and Tsurphu monastery in your trip. they are both important monasteries and both can be reached by public bus from lhasa.
The weather in may will be sunny days with accasionally heavy rain and wind. The nights in the mountains will be chilly.
there will be electricity most places mentioned and as long as you have an extra battery and plenty of space on your memorycard, theres no problem about taking a digital camera with you.
As its a bit dark inside the monasteries and flashlights not allowed a digital camera will give you better pictures. |
