my husband and I will go to Canada skiing in March, we planned to fly from Canada directly to Shanghai in early April, because we would like to go to the Boat Show in Shanghai. But as planned, a friend of ours (first timer to China) is going to join us in Shanghai on 18th of April. Which means leave us about 10 days to tour around China before meet him.

I have heard a lot of good reports about Jiuzhaigou in Sichuan, and would like to spend some time there. Only question is that what about accommodations there? Should we pre-book or just wondering around to find some places to stay on the day? What about the luggages? Normally people carry their luggages around when they touring? As you can imagine, we will have a lot of luggages with us as we would be away from home for more than 6 weeks.

The other thing is that if you can suggest an itinarary for about 8-9 days to Juizhaigou from Shanghai via Chengdu. We would like to visit the famous Dujiangyan irrigation system, too.

First of all, i suggest that Sheraton is the best choice for Jiuzhaigou.And you can collect points with Air Canada and Sheraton.So if you do come here you could book the hotel either with http://www.gotochina.com or http://www.sheraton.com

Second, regard to your luggage concern.I have two suggestion:

Jiuzhaigou won't cost you more than three days, and two days in Chengdu, plus one day in Dujiangyan.So arround about 7 days for you to finish your dream tour.You do not need to take all your luggages arround.The first suggestion is, if you did stay in the same hotel in Shanghai when you come and back from Chengdu, you could put the luggage in the bell store.Most of the four and five stars hotels have very good and safe Bell Storerooms. And just take one or two small luggages.

When you checked in whatever hotel in Jiuzhaigou or Chengdu you do not need to take them wondering arround if you still stay in the hotel the same day.

The second suggestion is, if you are flying to Chengdu directly from Shanghai when you landed with Air Canada.You could check in one hotel in Chengdu and use that hotel as one basement.You could put your luggages in the Bell Counter of the hotel.And pick them up when you come back from Jiuzhaigou and Dujiangyan.

I suggest you reaerve the hotel via travel agency before you arrived in JIUZHAIGOU,then you can get a better price than walk-in guest.the best hotel in JIUZHAIGOU is Jiu Zhai Paradise International Resort

you can leaved your luggages in the hotel you stayed in shanghai when you check out.i think most of hotels in shanghai will offer this service,but maybe you will pay for it because you have already checked out from their hotel
