Train tickets from Hong Kong to Beijing? |
|
|
We are flying to Hong Kong from Stockholm in May this year.
After a (hopefully) wonderful stay in Hong Kong, we are moving on to Beijing to visit some friends. It seems like a nice idea to take the Kowloon-Beijing train to see a bit of China rolling by through the window.
But how can we by tickets in advance? I checked the home page of the KCR Intercity Trains, but they don't seem to sell tickets online. As we live in Sweden, we hope that someone could recommend a good travel agent i Hong Kong for booking train tickets. |

Wilson,
It is also a good idea to travel to Beijing from Hong Kong as it is cheap and you can see a bit of China during travelling. Just one point is it takes a day
You got a picture that people can actually buy the tickets from KCR trains even though they will not offer online service. Nevertheless, we are travel agent and can help you buy the train tickets. (money needs not be transferred until you get the tickets) Plus we can offer some more information regarding HK and Beijing. (accomdation, tourist area, food, etc)
Feel free to contact us by mail

1. Kowloon-Beijing train tickets available in Mongkok station?
It's really not necessary to purchase your Kowloon-Beijing train tickets in advance during the month of May. You can get train tickets during your first or second day in Hong Kong at the Mongkok MTR station or make reservations by calling 2947-7888.
The route will take you through Guangzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, and Shijiazhuang. Don't expect spectacular scenery out the window, just a lot of farmland and peasants selling fresh corn on the cob.
2. Kowloon-Beijing train tickets available in Mongkok station?
It's possible at both places. I just don't like to go all the way to Hung Hom until it's time to board the train. I prefer to go to Mongkok, where it's very easy to find a Hui Lau Shan dessert shop.
There's a ferry to Hung Hom from Wanchai; I ride that and then walk to the train station, stopping to buy snacks along the way and change Hong Kong dollars to China's yuan. |
