I'm heading to Guangzhou in a few weeks and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to buy English reading material (novels, biographies, histories, etc). Do the Xinhua bookstores carry any imported literature beyond the typical abridged classics? Thanks for the help.

There is a really good bookshop down near the cloth market & the electronics market- the locals would know the area, no metro station nearby but only about 15y in a taxi from Haizu square. 'Ruth in China' may know the address (but she is on holiday for a couple of weeks). It is much better than the Bejing Lu bookshop. I've also found some books in the airport- otherwise its a quick trip to Hong Kong! good luck |
