Hard bargains in China |
|
|
Some finds of my recent trip to China. I followed a route recommended by a friend, Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. It is normal but a classic China tour. I realy enjoyed in the whole trip. One fifth of time was spent in the local market, Hongqiao market, Liuli factory and Xiushui street in Beijng, shops near Terra Cotta site in Xian and a silk factory in Shanghai.
I bought a Tibetan drum, some silk products etc. Bargain like mad at both of them even in these big cities. In most cases, I paid only 30-40% of the original asking price. Had I had more time, I'm sure I could have gotten it for less. Good bargaining takes time.
The vendors spoke just enough English to quote a price and tout the value of the merchandise. In some cases, the calculator became the universal language.
Hi, all, remember it and have fun! |
