CHINGLISH As a Second Language |
|
|
Chinglish is fast developing as the second National language of China.
It is a mixture of Chinese & English words. Either Chinese or English grammar if your first language is English. The choice of words is pretty infinite.
The word "Chinglish" (= CHINese + EngLISH) is in fact a good example of Chinglish.
You can either substitute the verbs, adverbs, nouns or whatoever you choose.
If you have never been in China for any lengthy period, then you may feel quite helpless & frustrated when encountering not only what may seem to be a strange & hostile environment, but also have to deal with a language that you consider to be a highly incomprehensible hybrid.
It can require ardous efforts to learn this language, but once accomplished understanding others in China (particularly native Chinese locals) becomes much simpler. It also help to minimize culture shock & everyday untintentional and/or unavoidable cultural misunderstandings. |
