Tell me about Shanghai-->hangzhou-->xian trip ? |

Hi there,
We are off to travelling to China in February. We are arriving into Shanghai - 3 days should be enough to see most of Shanghai.
Well I would like to see the following: Hangzhou, Zhengzhou ?, Xian and a yangtze river trip from Yichang to Chongqing.
Shanghai - Hangzhou - back to Shanghai - train to Xian via stop at Zhengzhou ( worth it ? sorry for not researching - LP is being ordered ) - Xian - now how do I get to Yichang for my River trip to Chongqing - or is there a better route,
Your advice is very much appreciated.
Thanks |

Hi,
There's not much to visit or do in Zhengzhou except Zhengzhou theater.your better choice would be Kaifeng, about an hour east of Zhengzhou. It would be a nice small-city break, between those big cities you're visiting. Do a search on Kaifeng. A week or so ago there was a thread about it.
have fun |

if you are going to Xi'an you can get to chongqin for about us$80. travel to yichang on a cruise and then fly out to either wuhan or back. from xian to yichang it is us$101. I will be doing this trip in Jan. there is a lot of info on yangtze cruises by typing "yangtze cruises" as a search or when in Xi'an, ask the hotel staff. dont forget, the internet can provide as much information as lonely planet or any book. zuji.com.au is great for finding out airfares companies who fly and schedules but leave it till you get there as often the prices are cheaper. Hotel staff can be invaluable when booking.
If you go to Shanghai, I comment you go to Suzhou, it is only two hours away from Shanghai. it is a middle size city, there are a lot of famous accient gardens, many of them are already be named as world ashes. If you are interest in hand made crafts, you will find a lot of local embroider & enchased artwork (jade,wooden windows,sandalwood fans, palace lanterns, etc.)
i hope this would help u
