I will be in China in July and August and wish to fly between some cities. Could anyone advise me of the fares between the following locations:-
Beijing to Xian
Xian to Jinan
Xian to Lhasa
Lhasa to Shanghai
Any information on train timetables and fares would also be appreciated

if you can fix your schedule now and book flights as early as possible, you can enjoy a discount as low as 40%. China Southern Airlines as a example, offer such a low discount if booking is made on 45 days' advance.
From Xi'an to Lhasa and Lhasa to Shanghai, only one option -- Flights.
Beijing to Xi'an, if you cannot get a discounted flight, train is a good alternative. Express trains take only one night (about 12 hours).
