Need information on places of attraction in Xian besides the terracotta sites. I hope someone could provide information on the following questions:
1. Which terracotta sites are worth seeing?
2. How much is the current ticket to see these sites?
3. How to get to the terracotta sites and other places of attraction?

Thanks. It would be helpful for me as I am going with my Mom from Beijing by train (don't know how much yet) in May.

There are actually 2 terracotta sites worth visiting in the vicinity of Xi'an. The most famous one is at Lintong, northeast of Xi'an, featuring the army of China's first emperor Qin Shihuang. Another one that is less well known is inside Xianyang's museum, a city northwest of Xi'an near the airport, and exhibits smaller terracotta figures dating from the Han dynasty.
Admission to the Xianyang Museum is 20 yuan.
From Xi'an you can take bus 59 to Xianyang. Your hotel concierge can give you detailed instructions.
If you are successful in finding a tour guide in Xi'an, ask them to take you to Hu County southwest of Xi'an for a half day excursion to see the Shaanxi folk artists and their cave dwellings. Hu County is one of the cradles of Shaanxi traditional folk art yet most foreign tourists never see it because they follow English guide books to the tourist traps at Huaqing Hot Springs and Banpo Neolithic Village. Of course you won't make the same mistake on this special trip with your mother and she'll enjoy mingling with the hospitable families who don't often see Western tourists.
