Yes it`s possible to get a Chinese visa in U.B. I got a 90 day visa there, it took 3 working days and cost me $30 (payable in U.S$)from the Chinese embassy. I stayed at the U.B. guesthouse, the staff there were very friendly and they can usually be found waiting at the train station when a train arrives in town, although you may want to book in advance, just in case. Hope this is helpfull. Cheers. |

Don't bother booking in advance, the only time of year it's that busy is July. There are plenty of guesthouses in UB, mostly about $5 a night, although I'm not sure if all of them work all year round. Others include the Khongor and Zaya's guesthouses, both on Peace Avenue near the State Department Store. Have a look through previous posts on this thread for more information.
