climbing Huashan in Xian in mid-November |

Hello. I'm planning to be in Xian in mid-November and was thinking of climbing Huashan. I've seen some pictures of the climb up, and it seems like the climb can be quite dangerous at times. Just wondering if anyone could share their experience with me, so I can get a sense of how safe or dangerous it may be. |

Yeah, it's really dangerous in places. You get life insurance to the value of 50,000 RMB (If I remember correctly) with the ticket though so don't worry.
It took me five hours to climb up and four hours down. Unfortunately at one point on the way down I had no choice but to climb down a vertical rock with tiny indented steps and a chain to cling onto. My legs were already like jelly from hours of climbing and I'm fairly scared of heights at the best of times.
I wouldn't trade the experience for anything though, parts of the mountain are really magical in Autumn, golden leaves, huge red lichens, sandy rocks. And I'm not afraid of heights anymore. |
