I am arriving in Shanghai on the Wednesday 13th of January for a week...it seems the places of interest are the Shanghai Museum and Jade Palace, the Bund and the TV tower, I would like to know of the names of the markets as I don't really want to shop in department stores. I had a look at a wonderful website , but wondered if there is anything else of interest that I have missed? Would also like to travel overnight to Xian.I have no idea what train and the cost yet....plan to be back the next day....any information making the trip more interesting would be appreciated.....

A: Shanghai is beautiful. Go either to Oriental TV Tower or Jin Mao Tower (Hyatt Cloud9) for the view. Hyatt Cloud9 located on the 87th level has a min spending of 110++ yuan.
If you don't like bargaining, go to YuYuan (Jade Garden) and Nanjing Rd (Xing Ren Jie). If you are good at bargaining and like to try your skills then go Xiang Yang Market to buy fake branded goods. There will be lots of people nagging at you to visit their shops nearby. and be sure to pay at most 20% of the price they quoted. I bargain from 560 to 108 for a franck muller watch. if they don't give in then just walk away. I am sure they will ask you back and say they don't earn much from you.
For food, just go Xin Tian Di. Try the famous Xiao Long Bao at yuyuan (go to the one with long queue).
It's 16 hours train from Shanghai to Xi'an. I'mnot sure about Xian but Hangzhou is a beautiful place.
