I'm going to China next year and I'll have to catch up with friends in Suzhou.
Can anyone let me know what area is like. |

At first sight it looks like another concrete city. But it is a rather
quaint place. It is famous for its gardens and canals. It is called the
Venice of the east. I have been there twice on day trips from Shanghai. We
toured the gardens by taxi. Picked up a map at the train station (in
Chinese) which has all the major sites listed. |
