We plan to tour the north Xinjiang.Unfamiliar with the local condition, so we copy the schedule as below to consult the experenced on it.Are there any to be improved?
The basic route: Hemu,Baihaba,Kanas,Ili valley and Bayinbuluk Grassland are our main point. In this route, we can take a good view of the essence of north Xinjiang: beautiful autumn scenery,the Gobi desert, lakes, mountains covered with snow,grassland and the ruins.
Place: north Xinjiang.
Time:30/Sep-12/Oct.
Budget: under 4000 yuan
Members:6-8persons,in convience with renting a vechile.Men and women are in half(two of us have decided, the other are in recruit.)

30/Sep: set out from Urumuchi.
Put up in a hotel and meet the arrived teammates.The arrived have to perchase the food for 4-5 days.The food around Kanasi is very expensive.Choose to put up at Yangzijiang inn by Nianzigou bus station.It's both convinent and cheap (16 yuan/person in a room with three beds).And it's sanitary.The hotel offer free luggage-keeping and shower(weman:16:30-21:00;man:21:00-23:00).You can find out the more cheaper hotel if you like to do more research,but the condition cannot be garenteed.Or you can get accomondation in a 3 star hotel with better sanitary condition.However, it's somewhat expensive,a standard with two beds cost you 120 yuan.
1st/Oct:start from Urumuqi to Buerjin.Get up at 5 o'clock in the morning and set out on the 217 road at 5:30.We'll rent a vehicle to Buerjin.Asking for information on telephone, the road condition of the section to Buerjin from 216 road is worse and it will spend two days to reach our desination. Furthermore, there is no way out in half,we'll have to find the way on our own.The vehicle need to be well-qulified with crossing country. Reach Buerjin.
Travel:On reaching Buerjin toward evening,you can watch the Buerjin River with clear water and the trees on both sides.If you have enough time, you can go to small five-colored curve.If it's a fine day, you must hurry to the other side of the city before 0:30 to see the sunset on Erqisi River--the most atttractive sunset in Xinjiang.(In Buerjin, the scenery you'll never miss if only you catch the right time )
Stay overnight :Buerjin.
Recomended: Xialbailu Hotel lies on No.67,Shengli Road.
0906-6522688.The Hotel is famous for it's breakfast which only costs you 10 yuan.If the Hotel is in full house,you can go to the Shanyu villa on the next door which costs 40 yuan per person.(0906-6526588) Transpotation Hotel,a room with four beds costs 20 yuan per person. ( If you have better choice,please make them up.)The pedicab is 2-2.5 yuan each turn.The night market is famous for Kawas roasted with pikes and inkfished made by the first Russian granny.
Attention: You'll go to the branch army of frontier guard to get a passport.2 yuan each person, deposit 10 yuan.The passport printed in Uger language.will be a memorial.You can travel in Habahe county without a passport, but you won't do in Baihaba.It is said that at the ticket office in Kanasi can conduct the passport to Baihaba.
2nd/Oct. Buerjin-Hemu
After consideration and inquirement from the experienced,we choose to travel on the route below.There will spend two days to reach Kanasi from Hemu,and it will be exausted on riding two days .Meanwhile, there's no special landscape worth to having a look.So you can leave it out from Hemu to Heihu.Thus you can spare some time and money for the scenery behind.On 25 morning(set out at 6:30 in the morning),we drive to Jiadenyv(about 2 hours),get off at Buqiao,rent horses and start out at once and reach the border where Kanasi River and Hemu River are crossed.You should have a look of the sunset and sunrise in the morning while having picnic.Index:The driver stays overnight in Jiadenyv and drives to Hemu on the next day to wait for us.Or He can drive to Hemu on the day and those who will not march on foot can go with driver.
March to Jiadenyv--the cross of Kanasi River and Hemu River.Pitch a camp On the first day.You can either choose to pitch a camp on a open grassland or in the pine forest where will be more comfortable by the river in the convenience of taking water. The route of the first day will need 6-8 hours,marching 20 km with good road condition and less difficult.
3rd/Oct. travel from the camp to Hemu on foot
(Those who have travelled introduced that on this section,we should set out at 9 o'clock in the morning and reach Hemu at about 2-3 o'clock in the afternoon.On the way , you can take pictures while strolling.Reaching Hemu,after checking-in,you will set up our camera waiting for the beautiful sunset.)
Along the left bank (west bank) of Hemu River,there will be a section of 5000 miles northward where has deep valley and crowded with pines and birchs.Going through the forest, the valley becomes wider and wider, the path rises up with dense bushes and the grass is as tall as a person, the flowers are in bloom.Northward 15km,you can look into Hemu village in the distance where lies in a basin about 3km in lenghth and 1km in broadth. Hemu River runs along the west of the basin. There are birches continuous on the hills,and pine forest cover the hillside on the east of the basin. In the center of the basin, the buildings made from the wood scattered here and there.Hemu county is a county of Mongolian Autonomous County.Half of the locals are Tuwa people of Mongolian, the others are Kazakhs who live on stock raising and tourist industry.Both people and the stocks are live in an atmosphere of peace and easy quite different with outside the world.In the autumn,the fruits of the pines are ripe for harvest,you can the locals pick seeds of the pines on the ground,you will never forget what you have seen.
The route of the next day need 4-6 hours which is shorter than that of the first day.And the road condition is better. Some sections of the road go through the bushes, pay attention not to be pierced or get a snag on your sweater.
Stay overnight : The hostel in Hemu village is the first consideration.(20yuan/person) The bed sheets are clean and ther is a bucket of water prepared for you to wash your face and brush your teeth in each room.
4TH/Oct.Hemu-Kanasi village-Baihaba
After getting up early and take photographs of sunrise,you will drive to Kanasi(about 4-5 hour.I'm not sure how much will improve after the rebuilding of the roas).On the way, you can take off at the Moon Curve(月亮湾) for a excurtion on foot.You will get to Kanasi village at 1 o'clock by noon.You will come to the Kanasi Lake going through the man-made holiday areas.The Guanyv Pavilion on the top of the mountaion opposite to the Lake can overlook all the Lake.It will spent 4 hours to reach the top of the mountain( go or not deceided by the polls).You are easy to go astry on side road, furthermore,it'll be more difficult and waste more time. It suggest that you go up the mountain on the main road and take plenty of food and water for a touring.You can go to Baihaba at 5-6 o'clock.
If you are told that Hemu is a land of Peach Bloddoms,you'll find Baihaba a world of fairy tales.Here,the people here plant bright-colored flowers before their houses.The wooden houses are painted colorful.There are continous birch forest.On the other side of the hill ,you'll find out surprisingly white flowers blossoms here and there. The blue sky accompanied by the while clouds,with peaceful surroundings, you'll want to stay here forever.
5th/Oct. Baihaba-Buerjin50km-Ghost City-Kuitun187km(take photographs of sunrise in Baihaba)
You'll set out at 10:00 after taking pictures and taking a stroll about.You can take pictures on the way while watching the scenery. The Ghost City is a typical landforms of wind erosion.It is named for the unique landforms and the chilling noises with the wind at night.In fact, instead of the terror you feel, you'll find out that the City is splended and magnificent at dusk. If you like to collect stones,you can get the stones with most pretty colors in Xinjiang.( The stone here are special of different sizes and colorful).Buerjin-Kuitun is national road of 217.
6-7th/0ct. Kuitun-Yili-Bayinbuluke(Rent a vechile for the poor road condition. It's the most beautiful road in Xinjiang, you can enjoy the scenery of seasons on the way.)
The route is national road 217 to the town of Bayinbuluke.There is a side way after you drive out of the town eastward 20-25km. There is no road sign in my mind.Remember to drive for left side.(If you inquire about how to go for Gongnaisi or Nalati, that's the best.)The vehicle will get out of grassland ,then down the mountain. But the mountain here is much comfortable than Tielimaide Daban(铁力买德大阪) on the mountain of Xiaolongchi (小龙池).First ,the road condition is good.The second ,there are attractive landscapes:the flowers in blossoms are of half tall of a person which standing on both sides of the winding mountain road. .Looking up, you can see the firs straight up into the clouds; Looking down ,the brook formed with melted snow will come into you eyes; Looking into in the distance,you'll find out the snow peak covered with snow.Once you get into grassland ,an inch you're forward, you'll take a view of ten sceneries.How much you can get depends on how you find out.Down to the foot of the mountain,you'll reach Gongnaisi Ditch.Over a stone bridge on Gongnaisi River,you will reach the cross of 217 and 218 national road-0km.
