Hi all,
We've just arrived in Yangshou where the weather is a bit crappy, but we're going to hang out for a few days and hope it clears. The scenery here is amazing!
Quick question:
We were hoping to follow your advice and take the 'backdoor' route into Guizhou from Sanjiang to Kaili, but when we arrived in Guilin this morning, the tourist information guy told us that the road between Guilin and Sanjiang is closed, no buses are running and that in order to get there, we would have to go via Liuzhou.
Can anyone confirm this info? Is this really the easiest route from here to Sanjiang? It's a bit of a hike!!

I was there about a month ago and had to take another route too (from the other way). Supposedly an Australian man (I met) came through from Longsheng (spelling could be wrong) but had to take a boat partly because the road was impassable.
