what the best way of purchasing the plane tickets is |

HI all:
I plan on spending 8 months in Beijing starting early 2006 and was wondering what the best way of purchasing the plane tickets is. My understanding is that a lot of travel agencies don't actually have prices that far out. Even orbitz, etc doesn't list prices father than 330 days in advance. Is a roundtrip ticket infeasible for such a long stay? Is it standard to simply purchase two one ways. It seems I should be able to find good prices given the fact that I know where and when I'll be going so far in advance, but I'm not sure how to go about doing it. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks. |

hi
Try the airlines' websites. Some still quote silly 'published fares' but others come up with fares similar to those of travel agents. You should there get tickets with one year validity, but check carefully the rules for changing the return date. Otherwise, some student travel agencies can get you one year tickets at the usual six month price, often with a flexible retun date.
Some airlines have frequent flyer programmes which allow miles to be used for o/w flights at half the mileage normally required for return trips - which would be handy in this situation.
Personally I'd buy a ticket with shorter validity, enjoy a break from Beijing and come back later on a new ticket. |
