Questions about MUSTS on tour to China help to schedule |
|
|
Hi to you all,
We're a couple going in October to China, starting from Shanghai.
We have 18 days in China (before crossing to Vietnam) and we want to focus in Yunnan.
First, we will love to hear your suggestions about "MUSTS" in this region.
Do we have enough time to go to the "Yellow mountain" ? Does it worth the effort ?
Do we have time to go to Chengdu and see the pandas ?
What is the cost of flights in China ? For example - from Shanghai to Lijiang ?
Second, we plan to cross overland to Vietnan.
Is it suppose to be easy ?
How long does it take from Kunnming to Lao Cai ?
And most important - can we enter with a visa to Vietnan that WAS NOT made in China ? (we don't have the time for it)
And last, a travel agent told us that there are some national holidays in China in October.
We don't seem to find anything about it.
Is it true ? Can it affect our plans ?
Thank you a lot for all your help !!! |

The national holiday in China in october, sure can affect your plans. You ought to make sure you've got any transport arrangements you need, bought and paid for well before that time. The Chinese like to travel during these weeklong holidays (may 1st the other one) and getting around could be difficult.
Yellow mountain is in Anhui province, nowhere near Yunnan. Maybe yo've got it mixed up with another mountain....
have good tour

Yunnan ... as always it depends what you want to see, check out the LP for places like Dali, Lijiang, Tiger Leaping Gorge, Shangri-La and the south area of Xishuangbanna and decide what you want and as mentionned before .Yes the national holidays will affect the way you are travelling because: one billion Chinese will be on the move |

The National Holiday is the first week of October. Everyone travels home to their families at this time. Most Chinese only get one week holiday then and the first week of May. Some people start their trip a few days before Oct 1st so it is very difficult to get transport tickets days before and days after this time period. As I said in your other post, there is no train now from Kunming to the Vietnam border. And you MUST get a Vietnam visa before you get to the border. |
