some questions on China will be met on your trip |
|

I've just finished my tour going from Lhasa to Zhongdian by car early this month. It took 7 days to finish this tour and I would suggest you not to risk your life on this route. I was lucky not encounting any heavy rain the landslide which often blocked the way for a couple of days. Good luck to all of you! |

For question 1: depends on when and where you tour and where you'll be staying. If you are going to stay at hostels or hotels where there is a/c then no need for mosquito net, but if you'll go to some rural areas where camping might be the case, then take one along won't hurt. Need more INFO!
For question 2: Again this depends on where you go and when you go. China is very big and the climate zones stretch from the tropics to the tundras; from humid in the south to dry in teh north. You need to give more info to get more info!

If you hotel or hostel charge you more than RMB50+, they have the electronic mosquito killer, yes, often in the drawer or somewhere else, with a plug.
If you travel to SW China, you should be prepared for mosquito... but no such worry for that... I living in SW for 20 years... |

Thank you for your quick answers.
We are leaving next monday and our tour itinerary will be the next:
Beijing
Datong (still not sure)
Pingyao
Xian
Louyang
Kaifeng
nanjing
Suzhou
Hangzhou
shanghai
It will be enough with a mosquito repelent spray or better if we carry the net?
Thanks again. |

You will be fine, if a net is required, the hotel will generally supply it. Buy a small electrical device in China which uses tablets that heat up and make a scent that repels mozzies. They are cheap and effective. Just plug them in to your hotel room and go out. YOu will NOT need malaria prophylactics when visiting those cities. |
