Visa in china |

I understand that "Visa Card accepted here" signs are abundant in most
cities in China, but that they really only accept Visa cards issued by
Chinese banks. However, in Hong Kong I understand that US issued Visa cards
are generally accepted everywhere. I would appreciate it if someone can
confirm or correct this information. |

A call for authorization and then imprinting your card on the
sales draft using an imprinter are what people usually used to do,
unlike now where the POS (Point Of Sale) Terminal captured the data on
your card (either by reading the magnetic tape or the chip), asked
authorization to its own bank, and then printed the sales draft on its
own.
But... You got to remember that currently the banks in China aren't
really that well networked with each other, so it can be understood if
there are a lot imprinters in used in China.
Actually, a lot of stores around the world still have imprinters as a
back-up incase the network or the POS terminal failed. |
