is there best way to travel back from Urumqi to Guilin? |
|

Hi
If you have been to Urumqi in Xinjiang province, what is the best way of travelling between Urumqi and Guilin? It seems really difficult to get between the two without going via Beijing? ie Urumqi to Beijing and then Beijing to Guilin seems like the shortest and most cost-efficient option - does anyone know if this is the case??
Any help with this would be very much appreciated as we are leaving on 1st of september from Shanghai to Urumqi, but are not sure about the best route for coming back!
Thanks |

you are completely right, the shortest way from Urumqi to Guilin is through Beijing, whatever you take a airplane or train you canno't get guilin directly.
so you don't expect any better idea about this trip, hahah

Flights go from Urumqi to Chengdu, Guangzhou, Chongqing and other southern provincial centres. You can then get flights from these centres to Guilin. Look at Travel China Guide Flight Planner. |

The best transit point (ie most convenient) is actually Zhengzhou, but it'll still take a whopping 60 hours, at the least. T198, T51/T54, T70, T191/T194 and 1046 go to Zhengzhou from Urumqi, then you can change to K337, K157, T5, K21, K315/K318 or 1627 to go to Guilin/Guilin (North). You could go through Beijing, but there's only 1 train to Beijing from Urumqi each day. |
